Espoir, french for hope — is an eight-piece brosha fabric festive collection built around a single conviction: that the right woven fabric, in the right colour, makes a complete festive outfit without over doing embroidery, embellishment, or surface decoration. Every piece in the collection is a stitched three-piece ensemble comprising of a brosha shirt with a silk inner, a raw silk trouser, and either a dyed organza dupatta or a printed dyed dupatta. Brosha fabric, a woven textile characterised by a self-patterned or contrast-woven surface and it has historically been associated with the more formal, embellished tier of Pakistani occasion wear. Espoir repositions it: these are festive and semi-formal dresses that derive their luxury from the quality and colour of the fabric itself rather than from embroidery applied on top of it, making each piece appropriate for the full range of festive season occasions in Pakistan from eid lunches to wedding functions, without requiring additional styling or embellishment to read as occasion-appropriate.
